Resolutions

Stop biting finger my nails one last time. I am about 75% of the way there. Moms don't have nasty nails.....Only I would choose a goal that I have already almost mastered. Makes for easy success!

Stop cussing. Moms do use foul lanague, just not as much as I do.

PS: The weather has been unbearably cold here. The wind is so strong it is almost impossible to ride a bike in it with out being blown backwards and last night, I took a cab home from the station. The station is a 10 minute walk to our apartment. Cold and laziness are not a good combination for me.  Thank god for my down jacket I brought with me!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

We went to Bubba Gumps for dinner, had a mini-house party afterwards, tried to catch the two bursts of light that Universal Studios called a fireworks display, and then said "sayanara" to the boys! I was not about to step out with my pregnant belly as a sober sister at 1am....David rolled in at about 5am!
At din-din

David, Waki "aka: Turquoise Man-you know that I am loving his outfit, and Nile

I had to take a picture with him! His pants pockets even had turquoise on them!!!

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, properous, and love-filled 2010!

Comments

FYI: I added Comments, so you can just write after the post, instead of having to open your email account and send me an email. Last time, I sent emails, which was easy for people to respond to. The blog doesn't really allow for that, so at least with the Comments, you can just write right there and then I can email you back. Make sense?

Baby Update 25 weeks

25 weeks

Everything is going well on the baby front. He/she is moving all the time and it is so much stronger than before. David was amazed at how much he could feel this time already, compared to last time. I can see my stomach move now and sometimes I can feel the baby rolling around and can see the changes on the outside, like a big lump on one side of my stomach. I love it, except when it feels like the Tasmanian devil is in my intestine, which at times, is exactly what it feels like. I am still sleeping uninterrupted through the night, which I will cherish as long as possible. I had my last doctor's appointment on the 23rd in America, which was kind of sad and will be seeing my new doctor on the 6th of January for another routine check-up. I am currently looking for someone to attend the birthing classes with me to interpret, so hopefully, I find someone. I am borderline begging at this point. They start on the 5th, which I may have to postpone until February, if I can't find anyone who speaks Japanese. The weight gain has been continual and I am dreading getting on the scale with the Japanese doctor. I am hoping that it isn't my maximum amount just yet; it may be though. My doctor in America told me to have them email him if they have a problem, so at least he has my back.....:). We just started talking names and have decided on a girl name, even though I have not entertained the idea that it may be a girl. We made a top 7 list for boy names, but I know that in the end it needs to a top 1 list. David finally caved and let me "discuss" it before seven months, how nice of him, huh? That is all for now! 25 weeks and 15 to go!!!!

The Christmas Holiday in pics...

Yearly tradition, matching PJs

My little Pea in a Pod

Christmas was great, as it is every year. We missed David, a lot, but I knew I would be seeing him and it was nice to spend time with my family, before I left. Here are some pics of the Francis Christmas and the Palmer Christmas. Yes, some are fugly, but its me. I can't help it. Highlights include getting a Kindle for Christmas, YES, IT IS AMAZING, my dad's prime rib, watching Nate rip open his presents, and having virgin Ramus Fizzes, a Champion/Francis family tradition.

I made it!!!

Can anyone guess what these are??? They are sooo expensive here so I brought my own. Thought this looked hilarious. I don't even want to know what the Japanese baggage checkers were thinking when they saw these.

This is what it looks like when you have to cram you life into 2 suitcases and 1 carry-on. Just call me gypsy lady!!!

Before I knew that my flight was cancelled. I am still smiling, that is how I know.

After a long night on the phone with United, not sure if I would even be able to leave on the 28th and a cancelled flight the next morning, I made it! The first hiccup occured when I looked at my itinerary and realized the team listed my name as Michelle Palmer. Well... we all know that I am Michelle Francis. I started freaking out immediately. David was on his phone with team, on Skype with me, and I was on my phone with United. Ultimately, we had to purchase a whole new ticket to get me here and just by chance, the flight had a seat available. I figured since one bad thing always goes wrong, this was it and it was taken care of early. Nope...Just like last time, my flight from Sacramento to San Francisco was delayed and no one at the airport even told me. The board read that the flight was on time. I had to ask the staff and they were rude. I got to San Francico airport, as my flight was boarding, and yes, my name was called on the loud speaker. Michelle Francis, Michelle Francis....The flight was fine. The girl I sat next to ended up being the girlfriend of one of the other players from a neighboring team. It was such a coincindence. Hopefully, I will be able to get together with her at some point. I am always happy to meet a fellow American! The morale of the story is NEVER FLY UNITED......

Final Goodbyes!

I hate these!!! I have already said goodbye to my good friends Katie, Jen, Megan, Heather, Paula, Brooke, Erica, and all my old coworkers from Alta. WAAAHHHHHHHHHHH, I REALLY REALLY HATE THE LAST GOODBYE!!!!! Here is P and I at her house this weekend watching The Wedding Planner, looking at wedding dresses, looking at bridesmaid dresses, and studying for my nursing entrance exam, like I really got any studying done!!! AND, LOOK AT THAT BELLY; IS THAT REALLY ME!!!! Saturday I got up early and took the long, four test. Hopefully, I did well. As I have been saying, if I was in 6th grade, I would have gotten 100%! Thanks for the great hospitality P, I love your new house and your boots :)!!!!

And, yes, I know I should be more careful about computer placement. I am frying my unborn child with radiation, as my sister likes to say. Too bad she wasn't there to remind me! You have to love the overprotective aunties!!!

The Babe at 24 weeks/6 months!!!

6 MONTHS!!!!

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Christmas Brunch & GD

The Girls

Our Parents

On Saturday, we had our annual Christmas Brunch which basically consists of high school friends and high school friends' parents all at one gathering, eating, drinking, and being merry!!! It is such a fun event. I know I look forward to it each year and so do my parents! Keep the tradition alive! Thanks to the La Salles for starting it! This year was a lot more tame than the last and I am thinking it was because the baby on board :). No famous fizzes for me!!! I thought I might die; they looked and smelled sooooo good!!!!

In other news, I had my Gestational Diabetes screen completed today. It was so gross. The only way to describe it is that it is like drinking straight margarita mix with no alcohol, which is disgusting. It is so syrupy that it burns the back your throat. YUCK!!! It made me sleepy (too much sugar at once for my slow moving body) and nauseous. Hopefully, this is the end of the road for the GD testing. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't eat sweets.

All done....

Took my last final today at 6pm. I was on campus from 10am for my first final. It was a long day, but totally worth it. I can't believe I only have one more prerequisite to take and then I am done. My how life can change so quickly. In the last four months, my husband moved overseas, I moved in with my parents, I quit my job, I went back to school full-time, I started pursuing a new career, and I found out I was pregnant. Also, I will be moving overseas as well. Lots of changes, crazy when I look back. This is how I felt at 7pm, when I handed in the final. I am so thankful that I was able to get all these classes done in one shot, instead of one at a time like I had been. Now, I can move forward!!!

PS: I LOVE that she has red hair and a bowl cut!

Whew....

King's Game, Purple Power!!!

Here is the candy bar and a small pic of the cake I brought. I almost put made, but that would be a lie. The cake that I designed. It turned out soooo cute!!!!

This was a busy, busy weekend! Had a birthday to celebrate on Friday night-forgot to take any pics, which is a bummer....Went to a Kings game on Saturday night with my mama (took one pic but need to upload it still), had a baby shower on Sunday (pic included) and a family friends Christmas Dinner, where I got really, really sick, which was a bummer...Digestive issues is all I can say....Too much candy at the candy bar:).

Finished my pharmacology final today. This is the first class that I have ever really dreaded in my WHOLE life. I never could get a routine down for studying the information before the tests. Usually, I have a fail proof system that always works, but not with this class. I think it was because it is a television class so I never had to go. Well..... that also means that I maybe watched 4 lectures total in the whole semester so....what can I expect. Hopefully, I passed so I don't have to retake this god forsaken class again. I know that I never want to be a pharmacist...

TWO DOWN, TWO MORE TO GOOOO!!!!!! ONE DAY OF FALL 2009 LEFT!!!!
Whoopity whoopity whoop!!!

Bumper week.....

Bad Monday, Annoying Tuesday, Busy Wednesday, Great Thursday, and I KNOW, Friday will be Fun Friday.

Monday I was on the phone with the Japanese Embassy and the U.S. Passport Agency arguing about my visa and my appointment date. Basically, they were not going to let me get pages added to my passport until the 21st, which was way too late to get the pages added and have the visa approved and put in the passport, before the 29th. I was back and forth between the two and did not really get anywhere. Of course, the visa takes 4 days to process, which would run me into a 5 day Japanese holiday. As of Monday, I was thinking I would not be leaving for Japan until January 4th or 5th. I was NOT happy. David talked me into just taking my passport straight to the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco to see if they would accept it with only 2 pages left. Usually, they want at least 4; but, as of now.... I have not gotten a phone call saying there was a problem, soo... I think we are in the clear, THANK GOD! I was so relieved, when the man said it looks good. Whoo Hooo! So Monday was bad because of the phone calls and the thought of not leaving until the 4th or 5th. I even cried a little. Wednesday was busy because of the drive to San Fran. A little side note, I could go to Japan without a visa and have it processed there, but it will take 2-3 months, instead of 4 days and I need a visa before I can get health insurance, which I must have. So...there is no way around the visa issue.

On Tuesday, a Michelle Incident, as I like to call them, occurred. These are things that only happen to me. I was in a huge hurry, running about 20 minutes late for class because I decided to pack my lunch. As I was leaving, the handles on my overnight bag did not go in the trunk, so when I thought I had closed the trunk, it was in fact not closed at all. I just so happened to leave my coffee mug on the roof of the car. You can only imagine what happened. The coffee mug rolled to the back of the roof and spilled coffee down the back of the car INTO the open trunk and INTO and ALL OVER my overnight bag. I heard the crash at the same time that I noticed the trunk was open. SH**!!!!! I went back home, had to do a load of laundry, repack my overnight back, screw the cup of coffee, and head out again. There is still coffee on and in my trunk and all over the back of my car :(......

Thursday was a great day because finals week started, so I only had to be on campus from 1-3pm which is the shortest Thursday that I have had in 15 weeks. It was wonderful. One final down and three more to go. I think I did well too!

It was the cutest shower ever. Black, white, and yellow with a BEE theme. I loved it!! I was shocked out of my mind, which was captured on video and in pictures. It was hilarious.
